Hello experts! Been a while since i have needed help but need VPN advice...

  1. Android
Right then my fellow synology enthusiasts, need some help from you wonderful people to reach my objective...

I have download station running on my DS920+ and want ALL its traffic to run via a VPN (Torguard)

I also would like, if its easy to also run my laptop through the VPN when at home.

My router set up is a pair of RT6600AXs on the latest SRM update 12...

On my old Asus router i had a VPN connection enabled on it, and could just tag which devices used the WAN and which used the VPN... i cant see how to do this with the RT6600AX? Ive tried enabling the VPN on SRM but its strange in its behaviour as it seems to make it into some kind of Failover Wan, showing up in the SMARTWAN tab, but obviously if for whatever reason the WAN looses connection, then it errors the VPN Failover out, which it has to if theres no internet connection and it never re-establishes it? On my old router if the VPN went down, the tagged VPN devices using it just had no internet. On the synology the VPN dies, wont restart so everything then diverts back to normal WAN.

If setting it up on the router is a pain, can i just enable it via the DS920 itself? Obviously i want download station via the VPN, but all connections can be via the VPN to the NAS i dont use external access.

A very noob friendly guide if anyone knows of one would be excellent.

Cheers Tom.
