I have a DS423+ with the following:

Shared Folder 7.9TB
Synology Drive Database 2.7TB
Snapshots 834.4GB
Others 1.1GB
Available 2.5TB

I use Synology Drive on multiple client devices to back up specific PC folders to my NAS.

-----------------

I have a few questions since the Synology Drive Database snuck up on me in size:
  1. Do you really need file versioning if you have snapshots running?
  2. I've changed the versioning rules in Synology Drive Admin Console to a much smaller number and then cleaned out the recycle...
    1. Didn't notice a significan change in the usage
    2. Is there a way to clear out the existing Synology Drive Database? (without uninstalling it)

Thanks for any help!

Have you tried reducing the number of versions you maintain for each Team folder?

Ahem, read the whole post! OK, so maybe switching off versioning on Team folders. There may be a lag for space recovery. Did you see if Snapshots grew when you changed versioning?

1, That's up to you. Versioning requires little space if your volume is btrfs formatted (ext4 is another story altogether...).
2. The simplest way is to stop Synology Drive Server (Control panel), then SSH in and delete the folder @synologydrive. Exit SSH and restart the Synology Drive Server.

Thank yall greatly for the replies!

My volume is btrfs.

@fredbert I did not see it change, but it could of been the low frequency of the versioning that crept up on me from my original settings. Haven't had the NAS for more than a couple of months.

Interestingly enough during the time since my first post I guess DSM had a chance to recalculate my storage volumes usage stats after reducing the amount of versions in Synology Drive Admin Console. It's now showing as follows:

Shared Folder 7.9TB
Synology Drive Database 813GB
Snapshots 1.5GB
Others 1.1GB
Available 3.7TB

I find it odd that snapshot went up while SD-Database went down.

This just works like a charm, no need other words.
Thanks a million, Telos.
