How to enable directory browsing?

In nginx.conf, I added “autoindex on” to all of the locations listening on port 80 (not knowing which is the right one). I stopped and restarted the Web Station in the Package Center.

No luck. Same problem — no listing of contents when I surf to the directory.

But I do get a 403 error, not a 404, so I know the server is seeing the directory.

I am guessing autoindex is not really “on” in the right “location { }”, permissions are not correct, or the .conf is not really being re-loaded when I stop/restart the Web Station.

Am I close . . . ?

I created an autoindex stylesheet for NGINX that looks like Synology File Station. If you are familiar with docker it will take you 5 minutes to set up and index any folder you desire.
