How to setup phpBB3 on a Synology NAS?

I'm not that familliar with installing third party installer packages to be installed onto Synology NAS.
And the phpBB3 forum package is no more supported, so I read.
Yet, it still seem to be possible to have the package installed without Docker, with some preparation perhaps?

There's already WordPress and Joomla! installed, so databases are available and running, as is PHP 7.x, 8.x and Apache server 2.4 is installed
I downloaded and unzipped the phpBB3 package from the official site.
Next I uploaded the unzipped folder with content and when finished I opened a browser (Firefox) to get to the installer.
I put the unzipped installer package onto the '/web' folder at the Synology NAS.

That's when I ran into some trouble.
In the browser, I cannot get any further than the intro page, the links give me an 404 rightaway and the install tab has been greyed-out.
I checked the rights within the FileZilla FTP client, the rights are set to '777' by default.
So, what's going on here?
Can anyone help me to get the install done properly?

In DSM version 6.x phpBB3 could still be installed from the package centre, since DSM 7 not anymore.
So I thought that the only way to get it done is by using Docker.
Yet some other stated that phpBB3 can also be installed without the use of Docker, but they do not specify how it's done.
Is there anyone who can help me out here?
