I'm reducing the amount of backup versions I keep and have updated the rules for a backup task. I am hoping those updated rules will be applied to the existing backups from that task, but am not seeing it yet. I did run a manual backup which I had read would apply the rules to the existing backups but that did not occur.
If the next scheduled occurence of the backup doesn't apply the new retention rules to all of the existing backups, is there a way to remove those existing extraneous backups manually?
I did not find info on how to do any manual removal of backups in the thread below:
What's best way to delete past ActiveBackups?
If the next scheduled run of the backup task will apply the new retention rules, that will be fine. If not, I need a manual process to safely remove the backups I don't need. I know I should not do that in a File Manager window, but I can't find any way to manually choose and delete individual active backups. I'd like to know how to do that just so I know how. Thanks.
Of course as soon as I post I finally see it...in Versions, which I had looked at repeatedly but never hovered my mouse over a backup, there is a delete option.
But since it only shows the 50 most recent backups, it appears to force you to delete newer backups before you can get to older backups, which is kind of frustrating.
I also see that the lock icon is changeable as well...learn something new... ;-)
