DSM 7.2 Hyper Backup entire system to local external USB / HDD

Hello.
I know that there are only 2 options to backup the entire system with Hyper Backup: to a remote NAS or to C2 Storage.

But I want to back it up to a local external USB HDD as an entire system backup.

Are there any workarounds, apps, tricks, hacks or whatever to do this?
I do not mean the "Folders and Packages" option.

What part do you miss if data and packages are backupped, plus export of system settings and users?
The part that hyperbackup misses? like firewall settings etc?

Synology made a wise choice to exclude system from data to enable restore to a different NAS model or one with different disk setup, so a full backup like a mirror, is not supported and probably not a good choice.

Maybe I misunderstood something here.
If it is not the best choice, why is it offered by Synology then?
What I would like to get is a backup that can be restored in the easiest way if my NAS gets burned, earthquakeed or if the SSDs die.
A "entire system" backup to me sounds like a very simple way to backup and restore to get all files, settings back (like a mirror).
Is this the case with the "Folders an Packages" option also?
Sorry for asking maybe stupid questions but Synology is new to me.

You would think so, yet a Hyper Backup "bare metal" restore is only available through C2 and a second Synology NAS.
Such is life.

But even so, a Synology "bare metal backup" does not permit DSM rollbacks, so even it is lacking.

in case you need to buy a new nas after the earthquake, is the very same Nas still available?
Will you setup it in the exact same way?
Most propably not.

so get yoursef a new nas, install system and new disks.
Then restore settings and data. That is how it works. No need to do a full mirror..

The reason it is offered is for people who can and need to afford two identical nas. Systems so they can be sure for close to 100% up time.

Most Soho will just backup data and settings.
