Hi.

When I download an .mp4 from a Hyper Backup task, the file is restored as .3gpp.
The MD5 checksum of the original .mp4 is the same than the restored .3gpp file.
This occurs on both of my 2 machines:
DS1817+ / DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5 / Hyper Backup Vault 4.1.1-3758
DS1819+ / DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5 / Hyper Backup Vault 4.1.2-4036

Can someone please confirm this behavior?
Thanks.

All running fine.
Indeed, I didn't check other browsers, having in mind DSM being the culprit..
  • W10 / Firefox : .mp4 -> .3gpp (my initial test)
  • W10 / Edge : .mp4 -> .mp4
  • macOS / Safari : .mp4 -> .mp4
So, it's browser related.

I also tested with some other .mp4 files on W10 / Firefox. Most of them worked fine (.mp4 -> .mp4).
Hence, it must have been browser and file related.

Digging further ... Firefox analysis the file content. Subject .mp4 files were in fact 3GP files.
Firefox corrects the file extension to what is finds inside the file.
I didn't find any way to disable this behavior/feature.

The HBV version was irrelevant by the way.

Thanks for the kick!

That's just changing the extensions which are visible inside the file dialog.

Seems like you asking to save the file with that extension. At least that's how it works here... Not that it is a true 3gppp file.

This is not possible. It is still an mp4 container, but you're causing it to use a .3gppp extension.

No. The file dialog only offers "3GPP Video (.3gpp)" and "All Files (.)" - other than your dialog above. This is standard behavior for Windows 10 since the "Save as type:" combo box always offers the file extension which the parent binary called (.3gpp), together with "All Files" to permit the user to visualize all files inside the path.

The file content is 3GP which the hex header clearly shows.
Firefox thinks that it's more appropriate to change the file extension to .3gpp rather than leaving it as .mp4. Whether this is good/correct, I don't know/care and it's outside the scope of my initial question.

OK... but not happening here on either Win10 or Win11.

I use Win 10/Win 11, Google Chrome browser and can confirm I do not have the issue. As you have mentioned seems like this is a Firefox browser related issue.

Win 11 / Chrome Browser. MP4 file is being downloaded as a MP4 file.

Unfortunately, HB does not support QC. It's either, a public IP, DDNS, or LAN IP.
