Hello People!

First off i am new here so i hope this is the correct subforum for my question. If not please move it :)

My problem is as following:
I have a DS220J and i am doing regular backups using Hyperbackup Local Folder/USB (Single Version) to bakcup everything to multiple external HDDs.
Setup was easy as pie but now i unfortunately connected two drives at the same time so Hyperbackup couldn't find the destination "USBDrive1" anymore because it's
now called USBDrive2 and i can't easily change it back to 1.

Now follows a more unfortunate event because i thought maybe by deleting the HyperBackup Task and setting it up again i could fix this. This was a massive
mistake because now i cannot setup the same task again since the exact folder on USBDrive1 is already in use by a backup (which is not true since i deleted it?!?!).

That means i not only broke one HDD but actually all of my other Backups as well that i did in the same way (They all refer to the same folder name on USBDrive1).

So basically my question is: Can i restore the Hyperbackup Task again so i can at least continue using the existing Backups of my other external drives?
My second qieston would be how to fix the USBDrive2 issue but at this point i might just reformat it and begin from scratch for this one HDD.

Thank you a lot!

You should be able to change the name of the connected device (aka its share folder) using Control Panel > Share Folders.
Yeah no, that's what I was saying, I cannot rename it to USBShare1 because it's system reserved.
However my main question was about restoring the task itself. I can't setup a "new" task into a folder that is (or rather was) already in use by another backup task even though that task doesn't exist anymore.

What I do with USB drives is, as @Rusty said, use Control Panel / Shared Folder and change the usbshareN names to something else (e.g. hyper backup). Then when I have had to swap over USB drives I have copied over the contents and then renamed the original shared folder to something else and then new shared folder to the one that HB knows.

With HB tasks there doesn't seem to be a simple way to change the destination while also keeping the task's configuration. So make a new task and repeat the settings you need. The single-version tasks don't even allow for re-linking to an existing destination so you'll have to treat each one as new.
