Indexing - is it that useful?

My Synology (1621+) seems to be taking forever to index my files. I hardly ever search for anything so is it really much use and should I just stop it with - synoservice --disable pkgctl-SynoFinder (I think that's a terminal operation.

IDK. I turned it off years ago. Not sure what I'm missing. Search is good the few times I need it.

If you just want to shut it down, schedule a root task at boot
synoservice --disable pkgctl-SynoFinder

If you prefer to remove it, from SSH
sudo synopkg uninstall SynoFinder
