Install Docker/Container Manager on DS220J

I have a DS220J with DSM 7.2-64570 update 3, and cannot figure out how to install Container Mng - it is not available as a package (nor is Docker).
Is it not supported on DS220J - or am I looking in the wrong place?

Correct. It is not supported on the DS220J. Your NAS has a Realtek RTD1296 CPU, which uses an arm cpu archicture.

Container Manager is only available on Diskstations with x86_64 architecture CPU, like the + or xs series.

As of this year, some value and J models have gotten support for it. Like 423, 223 and 223j, but 220j is not on the list.

That's a good development

According to the compatibility matrix the 420j supports Container Manager, which uses the same CPU as the 220j.
Wouldn't it be worth trying if the Container Manager package for the 420j can be installed on the 220j?

I have had today an update of the container manager to 20.10.23-1437. In the release notes it's mentioned, that DS120j and DS220j are now supported.

I was curious and researched it today: the 120j and 220j have 512MB RAM and no expansion slot.

I am not sure if it was such a brilliant move from Synology to provide a Docker package on devices that will be barely be able to run containers. The DS420j at least has 1GB RAM (which is still not enough).

Just out of curiosity: wasn't the recommendation for DSM7.x alone already 1GB RAM?

Still, there are certain containers that can be run on those machines as long as users are aware of the RAM limitation
