Latest versions of DSM/SRM and packages

Info Latest versions of DSM/SRM and packages

Synology Photos 1.7.0-0828 appears to have disappeared from Synology's download site.
Really odd, I see package files there but… the Synology Photos installer packages imply they are BeeStation (BSM) not DSM. Is it available on BSM, or is this new?

Anyway, the DSM Photos package released in August addressed yesterday’s security alert.

My script aims to find the first (topmost) release of each kind, and assumes each has release notes based on a standard URL format. There are too many items to validate quite what’s changed. It doesn’t/can’t check for package releases for different OS versions, so most updates will inevitably be for the latest DSM/SRM/BSM.

BSM has BeePhotos inside it. It is in fact a Synology Photos package (from a functionality side) but it is part of the BSM PAT file, not a separate package.

Patching just now.

BeePhotos 1.1.0-10052 is part of the new BSM 1.1-65373

I saw that. That the DSM and BSM Photos security advisory had the same summary would suggest that there is a very common codebase.

It was this when clicking through for the Synology Photos package update, it has BSM files only.

The previous Photos release is for DSM.

Maybe their intern uploaded it to the wrong place.

I see yesterday's update to ExFAT package is for BeeStation.

With the BSM's Synology Photos release, and BSM Photos package too, it seems that there's a trend: from what I understand BSM has used a single installer for OS and features up to now.

The recent speculation on an Intel based BeeStation would seem to be valid. The BSM Synology Photos package is tagged 'geminilakemango'. Where the most recent Gemini Lake CPU used by Synology is the J4125 (DS720+/920+/1520+/423+). The J4025 was used in the DS220+. So some cross-over with supported DS models would be a likely bet.

AS I wrote in my latest article we might be looking in either a 2bay version (identical to DS224+ only running BSM), or a single bay 8TB one. 4125 is the most likely candidate in this case imho.

If this turns out to be a dual-bay, we can be certain that DS223j is the last of its kind ("J" that is). The question now is just how much of a crossover there will be. I do hope that BST will become a potential HB destination, but that is not the case with the current BSM 1.1, but maybe these are preparations for whats to come.

Also no indication of Package Center as of yet.

I did see you were speculating this. Not sure if you pointed out that some of the packages being released for BSM had a CPU family naming, rather than the x86 that's usual for Intel builds.. That's more normal for the OS installers which apply to specific NAS models.
