Hello everyone,
I have some Reolink cameras that I use in my SS (through ONVIF protocol) since the app updated the version to 5.8.x the live streaming is broken and it’s stuck on hourglass. After few research I found that the cause of this is the HW decoding that was introduced last Jan, but at that time there was a switch to turn this option off, with the new version they removed this switch.
Have already checked the cameras and they working fine in SS if I watch them through browser or even in home assistant through direct streaming.
I have an iPhone 12 on iOS 17.x
Has anyone encountered this issue? How did you solved it?

Seeing that I use DS CAM every day I checked.. iPhone... I'm still at 5.7.0-1139..
I see 5.8.0 at app store, but it has not indicated as an update. ???
By Streaming I suspect you are indicating looking at live and recorded pics?
I use both Hikvision 1920x1080 and Ali Express 4K ONVIF cameras.... so I'm interested in your answers...

switch is the one on top. “Hardware decoding”. For me has gone.

I'd contact support on this one Immediately! I have never had that switch turned off here... I will experiment with wife's ipad..... and get back to you

OK.... iPad's DS CAM had same 5.7.0-1139. I Logged into same site as posted above... OK... Same switches enabled, too!

Went to APP Store... Not seeing an indicated update to DS CAM (as on iPhone 2020SE).... Searched for, and manually updated DS CAM to 5.8.0-1211 on iPad.
Logged into DS CAM and it displayed same images as with 5.7..... Looked at Switch settings.... Yes, Hardware Decoding swtich is not there any more!!!

BUT, I'm having no issues with 5.8..... I have far more logins on my iPhone.... To multiple NAS's and different 2K & 4K Camera's, HikVision and ONVIF... The one I posted is most important, (A View Only Login) shared with about 25 people and HOA, based all over country.. Once this APP is showing as an update on my iPhone, I will then download, test ALL MY LOGINS and settings... and post again.... But for now.... I'm not seeing anything unusual.... ?????

PS to this.... My DS CAM Login on each was via QC... No Ports forwarded. My iPhone is 17.5.1(DS CAM 5.7) iPad is 16.7.8 (as far as it can go!) (DS CAM 5.8)

Wife’s iPhone 14+. DS CAM 5.7 works, same switch settings Updated Wife’s iPhone 14+ IOS 17.5.1 to DS CAM 5.8.
Works on multiple NAS & logins, as did iPad.
Multiple HiKvision and multiple ONVIF Ali Express No-Name cameras.

And while I was checking Wife’s — my SE2020 reported DS CAM needed update!
Updated to 5.8 and tested everything 3x NAS’s, 7 HiKvision, 2 ONVIF cams.
No issues encountered

just to be certain, today I tried all 4 DS CAM logins on 3 NAS's, from 3x devices: iPhone SE2020, iPhone 14+, both at 17.5.1, and older iPad at 16.7.8.... and confirmed all is operationally correct on DS CAM V5.8.0-1211 with all cameras & licenses here.

Ibarone 87: have you tried deleting your DS CAM login and re-entering it? Maybe the login got corrupted during the upgrade? Just a WAG suggestion..
 
It’s a problem with cams that don’t support HW decoding. As that now Syn says is supported by default they removed it from options.

It’s nothing to do with login.
 

Here they're complaining of the same issue with Unifi cameras
 
Found the issue! The https flag in the log in was turned off after I enabled that I’m able to watch recordings and live streaming from the app again.
Not sure if is something on my side or the app side (I access SS through traefik rp).
Defo stopped worked with the new update.

In a prior DS CAM Update, one of the many DS CAM logins, changed in the update, from HTTPS to HTTP !.... and this Login, though created as HTTPS, Remains HTTP to this date...!. All other HTTPS Logins remained HTTPS !!??!! (Reason why I know: Did Screen Capture and edited in password so that potential users had picture reference as to how to set up the DS CAM Login: pix Was HTTPS!)
That particular login is the "View Only" one I gave to multiple people: Relatives and HOA homeowners, and some when asked, noticed this change as well... Because many of HOA users had issues creating the Login in the first place! (Too complicated-even with picture of how to configure!)... Any attempt to fix this Now on my end would cause numerous issues for user's 'elsewhere', So I left it alone.... As it worked as HTTP!
I reported this to Synology, but they indicated they never heard it before, and had no suggestions other than create a new Login and delete old one... Which would be problematical for some of the users.... (Why I left it alone)!! Both HTTPS & HTTP Logins work fine on V5.8
