I've been running docker-ce via Debian as a host on VMM for a few weeks now and I have to say I'm very happy with it so far. I haven't had any problems at all with containers not wanting to boot because of the kernel bug since I transferred my containers.

So far I only notice advantages over Synology's default docker app. You have regular updates of Docker-ce and all freedom without restrictions.
Too bad I'm currently running low on memory on my DS916+ (8GB) because otherwise I would do a lot more with VMM and Linux and thus become less dependent on Synology and their slow update policy.
