DS220+ would be a nice machine these needs or even DS220J

If the multimedia needs to be transcoded in real time then you could look at the DS220+ (which is what I think Rusty meant) and that would leave you with cash for hard drives too. The DS220j will be OK for traditional file serving but you'll benefit from the plus model's' better CPU and increased RAM if you want to do anything else. It also has two 1 GbE LAN interfaces which you can link together (depending on your other kit) to increase overall bandwidth when serving multiple clients.

If you are looking a WD NAS hard drives then I would opt for Red Plus, don't use the plain 'Red' (search for this on the forum, particularly terms CMR and SMR, where SMR drives are the ones to avoid).
