A few points:
  • AFIK, RackStations don’t support transcoding (the ability to hardware-transcode a stream on the fly). Some think hardware-transcoding is a gimmick while some believe it’s a must-have.
  • RackStations are loud (from what I keep reading, never used them).
  • I think RackStations are more finicky now about what drives you can use since Synology is trying to position itself as a mover and shaker in the enterprise domain.
I’m sure you’ll have more input from others here. Hang on, it’s going to be fun choosing your first NAS :)

Thanks @WST16. I already own a DS415+ and think it is about time to upgrade. I also upgrade my server rack and was just trying to use the most out of my space. I have no issue getting a DS. I guess my questions relate to which DS to get and should I wait for the 2022 models. I want this to be my HTPC and storage for media. Will be running Plex

A 1520+ is good for media hosting if you need transcoding. If not, the 1621+ is very tempting (or some RackStation).
If you can wait, why not. They might bring 10GBE to the replacements of the above, although Synology tends to be slow so no guarantees.
