Hello,

I changed my NAS connection a few months ago to take advantage of the DS923+ 10GB ethernet module.
I followed a video by Rex on how to plug the ethernet directly from the DS923+ 10GB module to my Mac Studio's 10GB port.
My r/w speeds were about 600 GB/s each which seemed about right.

The problem I have is the 10.10.xx.xx 10GB NAS address is not found on startup and will not automatically mount. I double click a NAS volume alias I created to get it to mount. Later, the NAS dismounts on its own as if it were waiting for prolonged inactivity.
I checked all the scheduled energy save settings and turned everything off for now. I even turned off the energy saver setting on the Mac system as if it were a regular storage device.
Nothing changed , the DS923+ volume dismounts after a few hours (and will not re-mount on NAS startup.)

I still have the mounting/dismounting issues and can't figure out how to solve this. It is especially annoying when I have a Plex recording scheduled while I'm away and the NAS volume does not mount. (I'd rather leave the NAS mounted 24/7 but it randomly dismounts just the same). For the record, I also have a regular 1GB ethernet connection from the DS923+ to my Deco satellite router so I can connect the NAS via wifi to my AppleTV and other computers/devices.

Am I missing something in the DSM setup? Maybe I should be using a separate router?

On another note: I initially used a (QNAP-2104-2T-A) router but the way it was set up, the DS923+ defaulted to the slower 1TB ethernet port and not 10GB, even if the 10GB connection went from the NAS straight to the 10GB router port and then on to the the 10GB Mac Studio port. The 1GB connection went to a 2.5GB router port and then on to the Deco satellite 1GB ethernet port which worked just fine. Apologies as this is a second issue that I solved/avoided with the direct 10GB connection from the NAS to Mac Studio.

The why you are describing things are you using ‘I’ and ‘it’ to mean the Mac? Because the only thing I see as being considered as the problem is the NAS. Could this be a problem on the Mac?

What has the most significant update recently been? DSM, package, macOS, Mac app? Could there be a Mac process over consuming resources?

You say the Mac Studio uses the 10 GbE port direct to the NAS. Does that mean there’s a secondary wired interface or WiFi are used for general in/out connectivity?

The Mac 10 GbE interface has to be placed below the general use interface/s. Priority is taken top to bottom of the list.

The NAS had an Interface Priority setting. The same top to bottom order is applied. A whim ago, I have seen the order reset: for me not a problem, all ports on the same subnet, though I’d rather the 3 port bond is higher.

and the NAS volume does not mount
What does this mean exactly? If Plex is installed on the NAS then for sure the NAS is not sleeping or hibernating. So what does "not mount" mean?

I read it as Plex is running on the Mac and using storage on the NAS. Depending on which DSM packages are being used (or rather not being used) the HDD hibernation feature could be kicking in. Would that stop file sharing services, or just make them sluggish to respond after quiet times?

Aha! I have to say I didn't pick that up. In that case, valid point. Hibernation will kick in depending what is running on the box.
