Not sure how NAS’y this is but…
As my daughter recently observed, bird watching creeps up on you as you get older. You go for a walk or stare out of the window and before you know it you’ve a pair of binoculars and a reference book.
For me it was the reintroduction of red kites near here and their spread across the region. Now I’ve a few binoculars and a couple of books, plus one on the iPhone.
