The non-default setting in TP that says it will search all packets, as opposed to the default: pass packets un-processed under high traffic, always seemed to be the safer approach, to me, as opposed to the default.
(My reasoning: say someone throws high amounts of crap at me: With intention of hitting default setting, knowing that it possibly then be passed.. I feel This is patently un-safe!)!
Year or so ago, I posted here and other place and received ‘leave it alone’ responses. Wanting to know more: I set one 2600 router one way, my other 2600 set as default, (promptly forgot which had which), and eventually put one 2600 router on shelf.
Today, after checking TP Map (Still works!), and browsed settings too:
My online 2600 TP setting is set to process ALL Packets. It’s been this way since this was discussed before: about a year ago.
Neither me, or Wife have noticed any pauses, or disturbances (Other than ISP outages—We have Zito)! — With this setting! In past year. Our ISP: 200/30.
Using the “Process All” TP setting: 2600 1.3.1-9. CPU:~45% RAM54%
TP (on ext USB/SSD), SA enabled.
NO: VLAN, VPN, Guest WIFI. (Home-made mesh with Linksys E2000).
