Nuisance Portainer pop-up

Slow day for the Lounge (I guess Jan is on holiday )

When I log in across my devices on the LAN, I use http://<device_ip>:9000 which brings me to the Portainer login UI.

On the RPi, after adding the login credentials, and clicking “Login”, I get this caution pop-up, which I must acknowledge...

Since this occurs after the login is submitted, I suspect that Portainer is the culprit, yet I don't see a setting that might disable this warning.

Your portainer login above is using http & port 9000, hence the 'unsecured' msg. Presumably you set -p 9000:9000 in your docker run command (or equivalent compose file etc)?

To run portainer using HTTPS, you should specify port 9443 -p 9443:9443 in your docker run cmd, and https://<device_ip:9443 in the URL.

All three Portainer instances use basically the “same” compose file and connect on port 9000 from the same PC/browser combination, yet only one presents this pop-up with each login. I'm puzzled why?

So you're running 3 instances of portainer on different machines.
What version(s) of portainer are they running? Are they all running the same version?

What browser are you getting the pop-up in? You're not using Bitwarden or 1Password to mange the login by any chance are you?

All are running v2.19.4
One is running community edition
Two are running business edition (it is one of these that spawns the pop-up)

I've seen similar 'unsecured HTTP connection' dialogues generated by the browser extensions of password mgrs; specifically Bitwarden and 1Vault, but no doubt others might do this.

Could this be what is generating the pop-up on the machine in question?

Good question. As I use Vaultwarden for all Portainer instances, so I'm not sure whether it's a contributor. To somewhat “test” this out I cloned the VW record for a Portainer instance that does not have the pop-up and changed its IP/Password to match the annoying device's login. Still, the pop-up prevailed after flushing cache.

I'm wondering now if a browser add-on is responsible, or else the Raspberry Pi target is to blame.
