Did anyone already set up Synology Drive On-demand Sync successfully on macOS?

I could create a Sync Rule and tick the On-demand option. I started the service and saw the newly created Folder in Finder.app.
The Menu bar icon kept showing the "Syncing" status for infinite time, but the folder did not populate with any items.

I tried on two different Macs (Intel and Apple Silicon) without any luck.

Just wondered if this feature is actually already in production release and tested successfully.
Synology Drive Server 3.2.0-23232
Synology Drive Client 3.2.0-13238
DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 2
macOS 12.6.1

Another follow-up:

Actually, I run into troubles again, even after reinstalling the client.

The Synology Support Team gave some hints, but most to no avail.
What helped was a really clean uninstall / reinstall, which is performed like this:

To reinstall the Drive client:
  • Open the programs folder in Mac Finder, right-click on Synology Drive Client, click on Show Package Content
  • At "Contents > SharedSupport" you can find the tool to uninstall the Drive Client
  • After the client was removed, please make sure that the following folder was removed or remove it manually:
    /Users/ user_name /.SynologyDrive/
  • Please install the Drive client again
Just for the record ;)

I just tried and it works as it should. Delete the task and try again.

And the obvious part:

Thanks for trying - and the hint.
But this was definitely not the problem, I did "enable" the service. (Also paused/resumed the service and rebooted Server and Client)

Now I also tried a different Server, still no luck.

No synced files and an infinite "Syncing" status icon.
Do you see any updates in the menu bar tray in the "Recently Changed"-tab? (I don't.)

Maybe there is a problem, because I also do sync other folders with the same connection in the traditional way 🤔

I will file a ticket.

Thanks,

Interesting.

Yes, I can see changes.

I also synchronise in the normal way and I'm trying out on-demand synchronisation. Both work well, but you can't sync folders on demand if they're already in another task, but I think you already know that.

I will file a ticket.
Curious what is the issue.

Ok. I think I figured it out:

The auto-self-update of the Synology Drive Client (the one adding On-demand Sync) obviously did not install the helper programs successfully.
  1. I had to download the Client directly from the Synology website
  2. Quit and re-install the Drive Client from the Installer Package
  3. Delete and re-create the Sync rules
Now it seems to work as expected.

Thanks for bearing with me,

Exactly what I needed to do now for some reason. It was all working well, just suddenly no syncing anymore.

And this was in the mac notification center:

Thanks again to point out the clean uninstall/reinstall.
