Pc is on the same network. A valid test would be a mobile laptop or phone that leaves the network that is what a vpn is for, devices in which leave the network can connect back into the home network.

Your pc should not need vpn access if it’s on the same network.

It appears you’re pinging host name of NAS DS920, ping the local ip and see if you get a result.

Other thing to try:
If you have a Laptop, set WiFi off and not wired to the Network.
On your phone (WiFi OFF) create a hotspot and connect with the Hotspot and then connect with VPN.

Also for me I cannot ping my host name rs820 I have to add rs820.workgroup (every network will be different with this) and then I get ping responses. But use the local ip address to minimize dns issues.

I’m out in the middle of the beach, connected via vpn and I can ping the nas ip. I can’t ping dns name of rs820 but I can ping and resolve dns when I add the suffix of .workgroup (rs820.workgroup)

wifi is off on my phone. not pinging dns name as it shows the nas ip when it starts. Still reading same as above.

ok, I just did a port scan. and 1194 is not listed even though I forward it in the router

I’d imagine the port is open considering the vpn is connected. What’s the ip address you’re getting in the vpn app

I like using canyouseeme.org to check if the port is open.

Port scans are not reliable.

I want to exclude the phone so:

If you have a Laptop, set WiFi off and not wired to the Network.
On your phone (VPN OFF) create a hotspot and connect with the Hotspot and then connect with VPN.

No, but next time I go to my friends place I'll bring my config file and put it on her system and try it. I can also access my pc with, "remote desktop connection, " to make changes as I've done it before. TY
