Hello

For everyone who loves to indulge in emotions, remembering the moments of life stored in thousands of photos on your Synology, I have created an application.
It may turn any your Android device to a Digital Photo Frame what will use all benefits of your photo package installed on Synology. It works with Photos, Moments and PhotoStation.
It uses the Synology API to reduce network traffic and load photos faster than directly accessing original photos.
It will help you to find your NAS on your local network, so you need just enter username and login to setup connection.
Select effect for transition and displaying images, add date and place if it is available for the photo.
Listen background music during slideshow.
Get it on Google Play or Amazon App Store.
Your old tablet or TV can get second life as device what brings emotions

Hi, I downloaded the app and and also paied the premium version. It works and looks quite nice. Thank you for the effort with the development.
Main question: is it inteded to work outside of the local network? From the internet? Should the "Connecting..." address work? What is the format of the address which work... and what the prerequisites are.

If you want, I would be happy to give you more feedback about the app.

Hi syDivis,
PhotosFrame support access from the internet, but only in case you have white IP and setup port forwarding on your router. In this case you need specify IP or assigned DNS/DDNS name if you have it and port number.
Quick connect is not supported at the moment, might be will add in the next version.
I would appreciate any feedback to help improve the app.

Be sure:
Don’t use administrators group account for logging. Better to create independent user with strictly defined rights.
Read carefully the data collection and data sharing to 3rd parties, defined in Terms:
Hi jeyare,
Login and passwords are not collected and not provided to any other server except your DSM. Terms are standard ones since application uses Google services, purchase verification and ads what require some information sent to third party servers.

Thanks for the reply, accessing the data from the internet would be a key feature; I am sure that not only for me...
I am trying to set it up, I failed so far, still some options to investigate -- otherwise I will come back to you for an advice. It would be great to have a basic documentation for "Photos Frame" users, covering this peace. Having the option to use the Quickconnect address would be the best.

BTW: is this address somehow supported? (See screenshot below) //Edited: yes, it works (however public IP was needed)
Is https supported? //Edited: yes, it works fine.

Few tips:
  • There is a bug in the app, it does not remember the settings for the interval.
  • It would be great to have an option for backroung color (black or grey for me)
  • The option of contain/cover would be good to be separate for landscape/portrait
Lower priority:
  • The option to go through the album once or repeat forever
  • Sort/shuffle
  • Skip all landscape/portrait images
Thanks!

OK, I could make it work from the internet. It is simple, after all, however I had to ask my provider to enable the public IP address, which involves some costs; while quickconnect works without it (and synology photo app does not require it). It would be great to ovecome this limitation...
Otherwise, thanks for the app! And I am looking forward to improvements, to make it more adjustable and user friendly.

  • "Show place" should display the full path, it does not work properly.
  • It would be great to have the option to access details for the individual image when stopped...

Hello,

I installed the premium version of your app on my smart TV. It looks very nice and synchs up flawlessly with my Synology NAS. However, when I select an Album to view, it displays the photos in random order. Even if I move photos manually, it randomly shows photos from the album. Is there a setting that allows the photos to be displayed in the proper order? All my photos are exhaustively tagged and have logical names, starting with "0001", "0002", "0003", etc.

Also, as someone mentioned before, it would be good if you could fix the bug that doesn't remember the settings for the interval.

Otherwise, thank you for a great product!

Hi there,

Just looking for a bit of help for the initial setup. I’ve installed the app on an Android tablet and am looking to connect using web address. I’ve put Moments as the service, and the web address in the server name (https://URL:5001). I did try :5000, but it failed very quickly. I also noticed that when I access moments via the DSM, it uses 5001.

I’ve put my username and password in the next fields. It tries to connect, but then says Failed Check Server Settings. I’m not sure if this is because of the URL, port, username/password, etc.

Are there more detailed error messages? Or any other tips for something to try?

Appreciate your help and excited to get it going!!

Joel

Just to be clear, I have port forwarding enabled on port 5001 and I have a DDNS service for my URL

Signed up to so thank you so much for this app, it is just what I have been looking for since synology photos was released. Any chance on enabling it as a screensaver on android TV? Also the ability to put in custom interval times would be good (eg 6 seconds, rather than 5 or 10). Otherwise it's a great app and I'll keep subscribed for it.
