And how does your config.inc.php file looks like at phpmyadmin location /etc/phpmyadmin? Would it be an option to set the $cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] to your NAS IP address, or 127.0.0.1?

hmm so you don't have these in that location?

config.inc.php
config.secret.inc.php
config.user.inc.php

If not, that might be the reason why you are having problems.

config.secret.inc.php
config.user.inc.php

....

Do you or anyone have an example file of config.inc.php ?

Well well, so that was the missing link. Just pasted the file there without any changes, and it works!

I would wonder why I don't get this file by default when deploying a fresh container....

Next thing I'm wondering now, I got that screen without any authentication. A bit insecure..

EDIT: Removed PMA_USER and PMA_PASSWORD environment vars . Now it shows a login screen and was able to login with the MySQL root account without a problem now.

Def because of PMA_USER and PASSWORD variables. I don't have them, so I have to log in each time.
