I had to uninstall container manager (to move it to another volume). I backed up all my containers (I hope I did it right), but when I try to restore them, all settings are gone! I have to start all over.. I've done this mistake before, what am I really doing wrong? I've got some .tar files from my backup but why can't I restore with all my settings? I have to do it all over again...

From within container manager, you need to "export" them. And then "import" them once container manager has been reinstalled. Is that what you did, or did you do something else?

Just discovered I probably exported the wrong stuff. I should've exported "Container" instead of "Image". :(
I really wish this could be a part of HyperBackup..

I too found out the hard way, not realizing that container manager was not one of the apps in the hyper backup list. Luckily at one point after building the container I did container exports right to a container export folder right in the docker folder a few years back. So I was able to spin them right back up.

Now my standard practice workflow is, once a container is set, do a container export and save to the docker shared folder. Anytime I do a change or edit I will export that container and do the same. At least then that whole data folder is backed up, including offsite. There are a few other packages that are in the same boat too.

You right click the container in container manager and pick "export container settings" is that what you mean?

Correct. I only export the settings, because the contents and data is already captured thru the shared folder docker folder; in my case at least.

To move, backup and restore Container Manager or Docker use:

When you move, backup or restore Container Manager or Docker it exports all your container's settings as json files... just in case the move or restore fails for some reason.

I also have both of these scheduled for regular json and yml backups

I have them both set to backup to folders in my Docker shared folder, and a Hyper Backup task scheduled to backup the Docker shared folder.
