Question about moving from Personal Space to Shared Space

I hit the 'reset' button on my photo organization and installed Synology Photos after temporarily moving my many, many folders and photos to a 'holding space' outside of the \photo shared folder. Then, I used the Synology Photos UI process to ' + ' add / import those many photos. What I really like about this is how Photos will automatically create year / month sub-folders (using exif data) to store the photo files. In my opinion, this is how photos should be stored, allowing whatever photo app or service that comes along to do what it wants with metadata and a nice UI for albums and other functionality. But, I'll always have all my photos (data) logically stored by year / month.

Aside from the Shared Space there is, of course, the Personal Space where the photos from my iPhone are stored, and my wife's iPhone stores to her Personal Space. I was a bit disappointed when I tested the MOVE feature in the Synology Photos UI to try and move photos from Personal to Shared. I wanted those photos to be automatically stored / sorted into appropriate year/month folders in the Shared Space PhotoLibrary folder. However, the MOVE feature in the Photos app asks for a target folder, and all the photo files get moved there. They will still display appropriately in the Timeline, etc - but, this breaks my desire to have the underlying photo files in the Share Space nicely stored in year / month folders.

At this time, my process for moving photos from Personal to Shared and preserving the underlying year / month storage in the Shared PhotoLibrary takes two steps... I use the Photos UI to MOVE them to a temp folder in the Shared Space ( \\Photo\temp ). Then I leave the UI and move the underlying photo files somewhere else, outside of the \Photo shared space. This will cause the Photos app to remove them from the database. Then, I go back into the Photos UI and use the ' + ' Add photos to grab them and allow the app to import (back) into Shared Space - which stores the underlying photos as desired. [ I should note that neither my wife nor I assign and tags or metadata to the photos in our Personal Space. If we did, I assume my two-step move process would cause that to be lost... ]

Can someone save me from myself here? How can the desired underlying storage of photo files into the Shared Space Photolibrary year / month folders be accomplished while moving photos from Personal to Shared Space?

Thanks!

Hi ATL3
I don‘t know if I understand correctly, but can‘t you just move the folders or pictures you want to share from the Personal Space (/home/Photos/) to the Shared Space (/photos/)? I just tried it on my DS and it works effortlessly, but maybe I‘m not seeing the problem.

Yes, I see that could work. Thank you. I would choose to skip any duplicate files (vs overwrite) and after the move search the source folders for any photos that might've been skipped as dups to confirm.

I've found that I can move images from Personal Space to Shared Space, but not the other way.
I have created a folder in shared space so that it is easy to use Files to move them to /home/Photos.
