I’ve finally got around to completing this project. Took my 4 bay, wiped out the storage pool/volume, and came down to 2 drives (for now) to create a SHR volume.
Used hyper backup to a locally connected hard drive via usb. Some things that were missed: some packages were not backed up (as designed/intended) are container manager and snapshot replication. Where I went wrong here, is after all these years I never actually read through the HB app list and cross checked which apps I actually had installed. I always just selected all apps and continued on.
Due to this all the snapshots weren’t retained on restore as well as all snapshot settings I had for each shared folder. For the container aspect I did go through, prior to the wipe) and take screenshots everywhere I could. However, I did not conduct a more recent container export; I had planned to and I had done a lot of prep for this, when it came time to do it since I had a narrowed open window of time I didn’t think about make a more recent export. I did luckily have a copy of the two containers exported, but this export was like 2-3 years ago. Luckily not much had changed since then other than removing a port from the Vaultwarden container, so I was able to easily import my two main containers. I will have to redo my VW test container, but no big deal.
Some rule items in the NAS firewall dropped off (became unchecked) such as OpenVPN and hyperbackup vault. In fact, the option wasn’t even available in the rule set, therefore I had to disable and then re-enable OpenVpn to get it to show.
Under login portal there was 2 items (drive and photos) where the alias/domain name dropped off.
I had a heck of a time getting my offsite hyperbackup job to reconnect as well as another’s HB job to connect to me. Ultimately, you have to open up port 5001 (which I know about and wasn’t the issue) for reauthentication. With that though it still wasn’t connecting. I had to take the domain name and change it to the public ip of offsite location then the HB job came back online. I then changed it back to the Domain Name; weird!
I’ll post back additional items as I come across.
