Having recently acquired a new DS920+ I decided to upgrade the ram. Because I could. No other reason, OK? Given the frankly shocking price of ram from Synology I opted for a 4 GB chip from Crucial at a fifth of the price! Very easy to fit considering my knackered hands. Fired it up as soon as I got all the hard drives back in and the info page showed 8GB as anticipated. Then I decided to do a memory check using Synology Assistant. Started it going and went and made a cup of tea. On returning the NAS was switched off, and would not switch on again. . Five minutes of DIY CPR then I unplugged it, removed the memory stick, and fired it all up. It works. Just putting this out to share in the hope of adding to this vast information pool. I was going to return the chip to Crucial but reading around on the internet I think I'll hang on to it in case a future DSM upgrade fixes the problem.
