Is there a way to wipe the OS from the rt2600ac and load Linux on it in order to repurpose it for something other than use as a router?

anything is possible but not official
I'm not looking for anything official. I have a spare router and the box seems like it could be used as a PFSense device inside the network if I could install it with a standard linux OS.

Not sure I have seen this scenario but I guess it could be done with some hacking.
Do you have any links for this? I recall being able to install stuff on this router that was not official but I lost that link.
