Seagate BarraCuda vs Seagate IronWolf

I'm in need of some advice. I have a DS1618+ with 4 x 8TB and 2 x 6TB used mostly for online backup ... it is not the primary server. Would it be OK to use 8 TB Barracuda drives as opposed to IronWolf to expand capacity a bit. The cost delta is 30%. The NAS does not serve anyone except me

Ok ... answered my own question <sigh> ... the BarraCuda drives are SMR so they are no-go.

when it will be pure Backup target only = nothing other in the NAS= then you can use SMR HDDs w/o troubles. Because it’s useful technology for such sequential write operation.
