Here you can see current status of Seagate Exos series, follow my research (May 7th 2020) from official sources - Seagate product list, Seagate website, Synology compatibility list.
I found some misinterpretation in source from blocksandfiles.com:
"Seagate documentation for the Exos and Archive HDDs explicitly spells out that they use SMR."
What is not true as you can see below. Better is read such information from precise sources, as we do.
If you haven't read my blog yet, it's time.

Basic split of the Exos line:
- Exos E (2.5" & 3.5" form factor), 3.5" FF is a successor of well known Seagate Constellation/Enterprise Capacity and Archive series, 2.5" FF is a successor of Enterprise Performance series
- Exos X (3.5" form factor only), successor of well known Seagate Constellation CS

Exos E series - Detailed description (SATA range) of most important parameters, from NAS point of view:

1. Exos 7E8 - 3.5" FF - successor Seagate Constellation/Enterprise Capacity
Capacity: 1/2/3/4/6/8 TB
Support workloads: 550 TB/year
Max. Sustained Transfer Rate: 215-249MB/s up to chosen model or sector size format in bytes (4k/512e/512n)
Cache: 256MB
Spindle Speed: 7200 rpm
Average Latency: 4.16ms (same as for WD Ultrastar)
Clearly defined as CMR in official Product sheet

2. Exos 7E2 - 3.5" FF - successor Seagate Constellation/Enterprise Capacity
Capacity: 1/2 TB
Support workloads: n/a or defined
Max. Sustained Transfer Rate: 194MB/s ... but in product documentation you will find 185MB/s only
Bytes per sector: 512
Cache: 128MB
Spindle Speed: 7200 rpm
Average Latency: 4.16ms (same as for WD Ultrastar)
Platters: 2x 1TB for both models! ... you can see it in official product documentation ... for 1TB model they use 2 disc with 2 heads, for 2TB model they use 2 disc with 4heads
Clearly defined as CMR in official Product sheet

3. Exos 5E8 - 3.5" FF - successor Seagate Archive
Capacity: 8 TB
Support workloads: 180 TB/year
Max. Sustained Transfer Rate: 190MB/s
Bytes per sector: 512e
Cache: 256MB
Spindle Speed: n/a ... Note: Archive model has 5900rpm
Average Latency: n/a
Platters: 4x 2TB
Clearly defined as SMR in official Product sheet

4. Exos 7E2000 - 2.5" FF - successor Seagate Enterprise Capacity
Capacity: 1/2 TB
Support workloads: 550 TB/year
Max. Sustained Transfer Rate: 135MB/s same for all sector size format in bytes (4k/512e/512n)
Cache: 128MB
Spindle Speed: 7200 rpm
Average Latency: 4.16 ms
Clearly defined as CMR in official Product sheet

rest of the HDDs from this line need SAS interface

Synology compatibility list:
- Exos 7E8 - passed
- Exos 7E2 - not listed till now, but you can find it as previous model - Seagate Enterprise Capacity
- Exos 5E8 - not listed till now, not easy to compare with previous Archive model, then we need to wait for Synology
