Here you can see current status of Seagate Exos series, follow my research (May 7th 2020) from official sources - Seagate product list, Seagate website, Synology compatibility list.
I found some misinterpretation in source from blocksandfiles.com:
"Seagate documentation for the Exos and Archive HDDs explicitly spells out that they use SMR."
What is not true as you can see below. Better is read such information from precise sources, as we do.

Basic split of the Exos line:
- Exos E (2.5" & 3.5" form factor), 3.5" FF is a successor of well known Seagate Constellation/Enterprise Capacity and Archive series, 2.5" FF is a successor of Enterprise Performance series
- Exos X (3.5" form factor only), successor of well known Seagate Constellation CS
Exos X series - Detailed description (SATA range) of most important parameters, from NAS point of view:
1. Exos X10 - 3.5" FF - Helium filled
Capacity: 8/10 TB
Support workloads: 550TB/y, found in official product manual (no mention in official product list)
Max. Sustained Transfer Rate: 249MB/s for both sector size format in bytes (4k/512e)
Cache: 256MB
Spindle Speed: 7200 rpm
Average Latency: 4.16ms (same as for WD Ultrastar)
No defined as CMR/SMR in official Product sheet
2. Exos X12 - 3.5" FF - Helium filled
Capacity: 12 TB
Support workloads: 550TB/y, found in official product manual (no mention in official product list)
Max. Sustained Transfer Rate: 261/249MB/s up to sector size format in bytes (4k/512e)
Cache: 256MB
Spindle Speed: 7200 rpm
Average Latency: 4.16ms (same as for WD Ultrastar)
No defined as CMR/SMR in official Product sheet
3. Exos X14 - 3.5" FF - Helium filled
Capacity: 10/12/14 TB
Support workloads: 550TB/y, found in official product manual (no mention in official product list)
Max. Sustained Transfer Rate: 261-233MB/s up to sector size format in bytes (4k/512e)
Cache: 256MB

Because I can't find mentioning about Disk/Host managed description - all the Exos X line must be based on CMR. Also the workload support up to 550TB/y is more suitable for CMR technology.
