My wife and I use outlook for mail and calendars. With the purchase of the new NAS, I'm looking at ways to use it for more efficiency. I use IMAP whereas my wife uses POP3, and a huge downside of IMAP is while email is available everywhere, appointments are device connected. So, making a new appt on my phone does not update my home computer. Drives me a bit insane!!

I'm not sure I can get my wife off Outlook 😕 to a separate calendar system. Is there a way to 2 way sync between outlook and SC naively or would it need a 3rd party tool as well?

Recently dove into this and your best option is to use Caldavsynchronizer – Sync Outlook Everywhere. It's a free app/plugin for Outlook and does connect Outlook to Synology Calendar perfectly with a 2-way sync. Sadly not native solution (yet).

BTW, let me give you some background information about my setup. Because of my employer I also use MS Outlook, but besides that I have kinda forever used Google Calendar. It was easy and I could subscribe to many calendars that provided me events I like to follow. Mostly sports events, but eversince I got my Synology NAS I decided to move all my personal calendars away from GCal. I did some research wether it was possible to subscribe to all calendars with SynCal, but sadly no. After inquiring in my network I found a few Dutch devs who created a simple calendar app that I can use on all my devices which could handle SynCal as well. I however did find out it was easier to still use the subscribed calendars through GCal. And they are still working to get the tasks from SynTasks working, but it's just a duo working on it.

Since I do sometimes receive meeting invites (via .ics mostly) I decided to keep using Outlook and apparently the only way to sync properly with Syn Caldavsynchronizer is the easiest way. Don't know if it is really the only way, but at some point I got bored of googling.

But let me know if it works for you and you better half. For me it was mostly about the effort I had to put in to find the perfect way or a workable way.

Thanks Jeff, I ended up going with CalDev as I was running it on my computer previously for a different reason and it's working well. I do notice that it faults with some regularity - that is, there's almost never a day when the sync doesn't fail a few times. Not a big deal as it doesn't affect its usefulness as it usually will only fail 2-3 in a row then go back to working properly. However, I've never had the failures using it for the other application that I have with Synology Calender.
