Looking at 510 specs, the 30FPS part is very good.... better than the $35-$40 Ali Express 4K cameras I'm using, but..... But 510 achieves this 30FPS by Limiting these cameras with a scan-rate below 4K... Yes.... I could limit my Ali Express cameras below 4K and get 30 FPS, too.... but I want the 4k resolution... The difference between the 2 new synology cameras and my Ali Express 4K units - would seem to be just 3:
1. Synology can't do 4K (I have been told: 4K is the Limits of SS & DS APP video handling)
2. Ali Express cameras have some minor issues: Multiple mfg: a DST software issue, camera appears to ‘need to be’ - behind a Firewall, (which isn’t terrible - but needed), limited to 15fps at 4K, and are slightly more convoluted to get initially configured, before SS ‘sees’ and uses them... successfully.
3. Ali Express 4K cameras cost much less, and are available...
When someone comes out with a 4K camera that does 4K at 30FPS, they will get my attention, as 30fps is better than 15fps. I'll then do what I've done before: Retire HD/30: Replace with 4K/15... Still have multiple HD, cams online, so: 4K/30 replaces 4K/15, and 4K/15 replace HD/30... Bandwidth that 718+ & 720+'s have can support HD to 4K/15 without getting out of breath, so I'm guessing they'll do 4K/15 to 4K/30 well..
(and why cancelling H265 support decision couple years back - inadvertently put a stake in the heart of 8K - for SS & DS APPS… (calculate what 8K/30fps would be for H264 vs: H265, vs the present bandwidth: SS/QC/DS APPS can support on Synology NAS easily)…. Also, limiting support at 4K video will (also) create a future “hole” in Synology income When (Not As/If, but When) 8K becomes the norm for Security Cameras, and you don’t have any softwares to use it on! NAS Hardware - horsepower as well will affect this. And in he meantime ISP's are increasing user bandwidth!!
The recent change where SS license is needed for new Synology Cameras.... Used to be a plus for Synology cameras.... a ~ $55 cost savings.
EDIT: So the 4K/30fps issue bugged me enough to search for them 5/8/26.... and found that they are more frequent and less $$ than the last time I searched....
Then: I did a search on 8K security cameras....... Same results: More MFG's found than last time....
"Last time" was about 8-9 months ago,( last retire/replace HD/30 cam with 4K/15 ...... ------- You might try and remove features (H265), as if they never ever existed..... BUT: ---> You Can't stop technology!!! <------- It will march right past you!!!
It wasn't too long ago that HD images were SO GOOD! Now they are being RETIRED!!!!
