Synology Drive server on multiple domains?

Synology Drive server on multiple domains?

Hello. I currently run Synology Drive server on a DS920+ with DSM7.
I have it configured so that Drive can be accessed via drive.MyPersonalDomain.com.
I would like to run a second instance that would allow a 2nd set of users to have access to Drive with a different domain such as drive.MyWorkDomain.com

At the end, what I’m really trying to achieve is that when my “Work” users share files via shared link on Drive, the domain shows as https://drive.MyWorkDomain.com/randomcharactershere

Thank you for any help or direction.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you tried creating a reverse proxy rule in Control Panel / Login Portal / Advanced that proxies requests to drive.MyWorkDomain.com:443 to drive.MyPersonalDomain.com:443, or whatever unique subdomain you have setup in Login Portal for Drive.

Alternatively, if you have setup an alias, e.g. drive, in Login Portal then you can directly access using either 'drive.MyPersonalDomain.com/drive' or 'drive.MyWorkDomain.com/drive'. Provided the SSL certificate covers both subdomains.

The sharing link is the trickier part. Have you tried not using a customised sharing link? That may then resort to using the subdomain of the web session (personal or work, depending on the connection).

But what you are doing is not running a second Drive service, and Drive doesn't support running separate instances for different sets of users (however you wish to delineate between them).

You could run Virtual Machine Manager and deploy an instance of virtual DSM, there's a free licence included with the DS920+. This would have a completely separate DSM instance running on the NAS but needs you to assign storage.

Depends on the model. If both are the same, you can move all drives from one to the other.
