Thought I discovered someone, but found out it's ME!

FYI: Was browsing through DS FINDER , in the DSM Mobile area,/Resource Monitor area, connected users area....

See an IP I don't recognize.... Do a search on that IP: It's assigned to my ISP!

So for kicks added IP to block list, (logged in via a computer, after logging out from DS FINDER)....

Then tried DS FINDER Again! Blocked!

Then it occurred to me.... and Checked via router to make certain that I was correct: THAT IP IS ME!!! THE WEBSURFING IP ISP GIVES ME! (Removed Block to be certain -- YEP!)

I had thought that DS FINDER from iPhone, because I gave iPhone a Static IP, that DS FINDER would log into NAS Locally.... when I'm at home.....

NOPE! It's Logging in via Internet, even while I'm at home!!

OK! I now know more than I did an hour ago!!! !

When you log into DS Finder, are you using your reverse proxy DDNS name? If so that routes through the internet, unless you add a DNS record into your router. The DNS record would be the domain name you use to access from the internet, and the ip would be to the local ip of the nas. This way when you are home and you use the domain name it does a look up on the router first and resolve to the local nas ip; thus never being routed to the internet.

It is configured to use quick connect
I thought it would do like DS CAM, and connect through LAN, when on LAN. Nope!

Add your quick connect name into your router dns, the ip of the quick connect name should be your local nas ip. Then it will connect thru lan when on lan. This also depends if your router has and supports NAT loop back. I believe you’re using a synology router, so this is all supported.
