I was "gifted" a Synology 1512+ that has BLOD.
Purhcased without drives, my goal is to somehow get it working again and start with a fresh set of drives.

Issue:
Connect the NAS to power with no drives and BLOD, connect one drive in first bay and BLOD, Removed CMOS battery and BLOD, reseated dimm's/hardware and blod.
LAN nor Drive led's light up.

Here are my thoughts on what needs to be done and questions I have:
- Purchase a usb to serial ttl to console in. I am curious as to what I should see given this is an older synology device.
- See at what portion of boot is the OS failing to load
- Check DSM firmware is good and check if board firmware is good? Is there firmware on both the sisterboard and the motherboard?
Will I be able to check what version firmware is running via the console?

I would love to just reflash the firmware and give it a whirl but with how finicky it seems I'd rather ask.

These drives "could" be used but I would not recommend it unless you are using them only as stand alone...

Didn't see this in the thread previously. There is a page where you can look up the status of updates...
