Updated Docker Package 20.10.3 available

No issues here upgrading Docker to version 20.10.3 on the latest DSM 6.2 version.

I didn't stop the Docker package or any of the containers but maybe it is better/smarter to do so just in case and to avoid possible issues.

I think it is a good idea to upgrade to a more recent Docker version. If you look at the release notes there were a lot of fixes since Docker version 18.09.8... A lot happened in two years...

Thanks!

Is there a feature you are missing?

No not particularly, but I am currently on Docker Version 18.09.0-0519 (no idea how old this version is) but I've read Synology's docker is way out of date. I'd want to upgrade for security reasons. I havent seen a docker update prompt from within Synology since this last version...maybe its because my DSM is running an older version... (I'm still on DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3) and I see DSM 6.2.4-25556 available for download. Trying to hold out and just jump straight to a nice solid build of DSM 7.0 if I can.

Also had a question for you folks on DSM 7.0: If you've installed it, how is Synology Photos? Do you still need a separate photo app (e.g., PhotoView, PhotoPrism, Piwigo) or does Synology Photos blow them away with its features? I'd mainly want some AI and face recognition features. I'd like to avoid redundancy and if Synology has managed to crack this nut with great photo management then I'd rather get rid of some photo mgmt containers off my stack.

Please open a new thread for this topic under its category. Thanks!

Normally I would not be bothered by a docker update, since it tends to be a small jump, but this one is significant, hence worth double checking.

I will update docker secondary NAS, then if that goes smoothly, make the update on the primary. Docker is the primary service on my NASes nowadays.

Thanks for a well structured forum btw, the Synology one, does my head in.

On a note related to updates, I much prefer that Synology provided updates on the Docker package, towards the end of a version cycle e.g. 18.9 , 19.03.10. Updates which are very stable.
