(I also posted this on other forums but -to date- wasn't able to solve my problem)

In short: I purchased a UGREEN USB-to-2.5Gbe converter, followed instructions on the Internet and was able to install drivers and got the NAS (DSM 7.1) to report a 2500mbps Ethernet connection. My cables are Cat7, my switches 2.5 GbE and so is my Windows desktop Ethernet interface. So all seems fine.
When I measure file transfer speed however, I'm still seeing 70-80Mb/s (= 1GbE). An iPerf3 test reported 133Mb/s (which is low for 2.5 GbE but above 1GbE, indicating that there is a 2.5 GbE capable connection, so it seems that 'hardware-wise' things are correct).
Why am I still seeing a 1GbE network speed then??
Any suggestions?

And to add a question on top of my own reply... I know the latest DSM is 7.2, but my system tells me I have 7.1 and all is 'up-to-date'. Would/could it be worthwhile to go to 7.2 on my system and could that potentially improve things for me?
Imho, no

That's right, you will not be notified so, DSM tells you all is 'up-to-date'.
Release Notes:
For the models below, you can only download the upgrade patch from Synology Download Center because you won't receive notifications for this update on your DSM.
And concerning more series......

Ah, OK, I noticed a newer release but didn't read the release notes. My bad, I'm sorry.
But not real added value if I do the update as Rusty also suggests I guess then?

Could always use a dual drive USB enclosure. That way you get two drives, but only use one usb port.
