URL of a directory in FileStation?

URL of a directory in FileStation?

Does a FileStation directory have a URL?

I want to email a colleague on my LAN who has same the permissions as I do for browsing in FileStation.

I want to say, “click this URL and you’ll get to the relevant directory in FileStation.”

Right-click the file/folder and on the bottom, you will see the Share menu option. This will generate a local or FQDN URL depending on how you have accessed the FileStation in the 1st place.

Thanks @Rusty.

I see a URL like this: http://192.168.120.117:5000/sharing/wCemmf205

It would be very nice if I had a full directory path instead of that wCemmf205, or could at least translate one to the other.

Might you know how that code gets generated? Some sort of hash I assume. Do you know what one?

right click on the folder, select properties and then copy the link access that'll give you a full url.

Not sure why you need the full address to share with a user on the same NAS.

I was going to suggest that, but I think OP wants a web URL not a UNC... (not sure), so didn't suggest it.

Thanks @Acetone and @Rusty.

What I really want is to set things so we can throw around messages like these:

Those files you want are in http://ourvault.local/engineering/ModelXYZ/ The new plan is posted at http://ourvault.local/marketing/2023/plan.pdf Upload your contribution to http://ourvault.local/HR/picnic/

with the human-readable directory structure and the ability for the link to be either to a folder or a file.

For now, I have Web Station (with directory browsing turned on) pointing to all files stored in the NAS, but the result is read-only. I would prefer the links take users to File Station.
