Not accessable via DS ROUTER Yet.
I’m not on VPN Anyway so I can wait

Updated my RT6600ax. The L2TP VPN connection incoming from external device (RT1900ac) to my VPN Plus Server running on my RT6600ax works again.

I can confirm that -12 for a 2600, is now seen from DS ROUTER, and can update from a remote location - 1000’s miles away - successfully!

Has anyone had issues with their router not connecting after modem reset? Zito doing maintenance to amps/nodes in the system in our development and -10, -11, or -12 then router has to be physically power cycled in order to re-connect to rebooted modem?

Zito did maintenance at our development today and 2600 with -12 didn’t connect after modem reboot???
And I’m in Portugal!
They did this with -10 & -11, but I was home to reboot 2600router. At that time I didn’t put 2+2 together.. Now I’m ticked off, as I’m not home to reset 2600!!
😱😱
Don’t know if this is a -10,-11,-12 thing or something unique to Zito new amp/node hardware

???

Gave neighbor with key info where to find modem, and how to power cycle it. 40 min later still no connection. He saw power plus 2x lock lights on modem, so it’s locked to ISP. It’s either something in -10, -11, -12 or new Zito hardware.. either way: presently: I’m screwed
Everything on UPS’s & whole house generator + Surge suppressor.

Now he’s out of town (Neighbor with house key). When he gets back if modem is still locked to ISP Will cycle router power.
Alerted Support on this, giving them symptoms from prior occurrences, and solutions from before. But doubt they will respond except ask for files I cannot respond with from here

Neighbor #2 stepped in. Power cycled router again
So, On 3rd router power cycle it connected. Back up. ??
This neighbor is one with EERO Router, and he said he also had to power cycle his router after modem was reset (newer Arris, I believe 8200).
Once I get home I can exam further. Is their any other logs showing anything other than a successful connection? More in depth that might help indicate an issue like this? That’s all I’ve seen in general logs. Updated support ticket with this new info.
Zito uses CGNAT But until they started replacing hardware in local office and nodes/amps a few months back, I never had issues with CGNAT in any way: was Transparent.
Thanks for any suggestions.

5-6 hours after 3rd reboot, it connected!

Later got rmail from neighbor #1. He had to power cycle his router too. (Don’t know which company router)

Passed along to support

Support:
your Synology Router should be actively looking for an internet connection at all times. Meaning that once the Modem sends it a signal it should receive a public IP Address and provide an internet connection for the devices in the home. I do not have too many details as to what the ISP had changed, or why it required their users to reboot their Routers. Though I suspect that perhaps the Gateway Address of the Modem may have changed. And rebooting the Router would be the only way for it to successfully seek out a new gateway and internet connection.

If this happens again and you would like for us to take a look at your Logs, please open a new support ticket and attach your Debug Log to the new ticket for further review. Though my suspicion is that they made IP/Gateway changes during their maintenance/upgrades. Since other models of Router also require a reboot, this would make sense as the Router is looking to the old Gateway still for an internet connection. The Modem does not have a way to push that information out to the Router. But when you reboot the Router it is set for Auto IP, so it will then discover the new Gateway/IP information and restore the internet connection.

Sent Support pixs of DS ROUTER SETTINGS showing same Gateway I remember it using before, then found
a 2-3 week old PingPlotter pix showing router, Gateway. To Atlanta Server. all neighbors here connect to same ip’s ‘on way out’ to internet

Enough neighbors emailed me abut their recent issues:
Those connecting directly to modem had no trouble with modem resets.

Those with routers had to power cycle routers at least once.

From my saved tests: No gateway change occurred. I’m still days away from examining logs. Any suggestions as to where to look is appreciated.

Just for S&G’s: anybody ever try same modem to both Wan1&2? (As a fallback — when first doesn’t work?)

If I knew when ISP was doing work and I’m home could try…. Talk about grasping at straws!!

Whole house Generator…Surge Suppressor…
UPS’s…..
I’m trying to make if failure-proof!

Plot thickens:
Neighbor emailed me-entire development down again today. Those who ask are being told that it is Helene related repairs from many locations.
When I logged in (QC, via iPhone apps and one other mfg product, many 1000’s miles away) it worked! 😁
Now beginning to wonder if the recent problems needing router power cycles, is ISP related issues. ??
Again, anything that logs, to assist the troubleshooting? Thanks

Is your DNS provider working. 9.9.9.9 has been down several times in the last couple of months and for whatever reason it takes down quickconnect.to when it goes out, but not other domains.

I’m using 1.1.1.1 on units.. suggested by support, and may have fixed monthly drive status reports. Last 2 first of month emails missed: Helene outage, and outage at home while here.

Realized you might be indicating DNS of phones while outside house.

So far I’ve seen: 11.11.11.11 & 8.8.8.8 in past week.

Elegant Solution Found: For Next time!

Support #1 handed off to Support #2, who thought of an elegant solution:

Next time before leaving home, change router to reboot daily at a time that will not effect your destination access! On return home, turn it off! Worst case senerio: you are offline 1 day max!

Sometimes the simple-est, and the one right in front of your face, is the most elegant! This way I don’t have to bother neighbor!
We discussed why DS ROUTER doesn’t support script files or desktop, too.
2 Points for Support!
