New version out today (as a release candidate edition!)

Version: 7.1.1-42951 Release Candidate

(2022-08-10)

Important Notes

  1. Starting from this version, the bad sector count column will not be displayed along with hard drive information. Users should go to each drive's Health Info > History to view its complete bad sector information. To determine whether bad sectors are affecting the drive, see if there's a significant increase in the number of bad sectors over time.
  2. Adjusted how the system calculates M.2 NVMe SSD'S estimated lifspan to provide a more accurate estimation.

What’s New

  1. Added support for recipient profiles for email notifications, allowing users to add multiple email addresses under each profile and customize rules for the profiles.
  2. Users can now enable the quota setting for shared folders that are located on volumes with data deduplication enabled.
  3. Added support for RAID arrays with 16 and 20 hard drives when creating RAID groups.
  4. Supports checking the 2-factor authentication status of user accounts at Control Panel > User & Group > Users.

Notes:

Haha. I'm sure it will arrive, it's just a question of priorities I guess. There are also some other promises from long ago that we are waiting like ABB macOS support that is finally coming this year, so I'm sure that multichannel will come at some point as well.

This might be a silly question, but are RC considered safe to update to? I've always waited for official release, but I think I read this update addresses 64 CVE! How many of you will install the RC or wait for the official release?

It is safe. It will at one point (if it doesn't get pulled) be released as 42963 or something like that, so you will be able to update on top of this RC update.

I do agree that this is a massive security update, and as one that is not up to date all the time (no need if I have no problems or there are not security issues), but this update clearly covers a lot.

Personally, I can see this non-RC version out by the end of the month especially if there will be no issues with it.

Annoyingly, there doesn't seem to be a way to "patch" from 7.1-42661 update 4 to this new version. Only way to update from a fully updated patched 42661 is to download and install the entire new version.

So did you update or are you holding out for the general release?
