New update out today. PWN2OWN 2024, fixes

Version:

(2024-11-05)

Important notes

  1. Your Synology NAS may not notify you of this DSM update because of the following reasons. If you want to update your DSM to this version now, please click here to update it manually.
    • Your DSM is working fine without having to update. The system evaluates service statuses and system settings to determine whether it needs to update to this version.
  2. This update will restart the device.

Fixed Issues

  1. Fixed multiple security vulnerabilities (Synology-SA-24:20).
Notes:

They are there. Update has passed with no issues on one of my test devices.

Well well, this is a hot topic today isn't it? One would think there are issues with the update, but no, its the missing release notes! -.-

The issue is that Synology is not consistent in different languages so, hot ? In fact yes.
Anyway, please delete everything from my first post if this bothers you.

Usually clicking the release notes link in Control Panel will still show the full latest notes, even if Control Panel is saying the NAS is up to date. But then you would still have to hunt for the installer file on Download Center or Synology Archive Download Site - Index of /download.

I first thought it was a caching issue somewhere along the line, then realised I tried via Control Panel and then direct. But provided there's one way to find this information then I'm OK that not all places have been updated yet.

Has anyone seen this update breaking LDAP groups & authentication? All my LDAP groups are showing up as unknown with a number rather than their name.

It could have happened after the initial 7.2.2-72806, but I just stacked Update 1 on top before testing.

Thanks!

Where are you seeing this issue with LDAP? What is the LDAP server that you are using?

I have LDAP Server running on my NAS. I've its local NAS, other NAS (on LAN), and SRM router connecting to LDAP Server. I don't see users and groups in LDAP Server or Control Panels being displayed other than using their names, as I defined them.

Have you tried stop/starting the LDAP service, and resync'ing to the service?

2 days ago, Installed -1 on experimental NAS (720+) and tested with all the packages I normally test upgrades with: DS CAM, DS FILE. DS FINDER, DS ROUTER, DRIVE.
All appear ok.
Installed on online NAS’s: Another 720+ & 718+.
Works as before: good!
Thanks for security fix.

Having trouble installing this update after getting a security alert email today...
I have a DS918+ running 7.2.2 72803. There are not automatic updates available. I've download synology_apollolake_918+.pat which should be 7.2.2-72806 Update 1.

When I upload the file to my NAS I get an error its not compatible.

Now what?!

You have to do the first and the second. There isn't, yet, a combo installer including the patch.
OK, ta. I've installed DSM_DS918+_72806.pat and ended up with DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 1. If I try and upload synology_apollolake_918+.pat now I get an error that I can't roll back.

Slightly confused.
