It's a stepping stone approach.I would think that 6 to 7.2 would have all sorts of hidden/untested issues in it that 7.1-7.2 would not.

Eeek scary that as it will affect WebStation....One small thing: MariadB 10 had to be uninstalled, but i could install it again after 7.2 upgrade with import of the old databases.
I noticed this incompatibility warning as well. What applications use node.js?Syno dropped the ball with Node.js. They have actually adopted a current version (v18) for DSM7.2 (hurray!) but if you try and load or update to Node.js 18 via the CLI the madness returns and spits out an error that Node.js 18 is not compatible with DSM7, only v16. Like what, it's what you are using yourself you dumb machine!
The DSM GUI will allow you to load Node.js 18 as a package though and everything works fine with things that use it (eg Homebridge)... but zero out of 10 for Synology's left hand being unaware of the right hand.
...and relax.

sucks to lose Itunes server, as Itunes is still supported for Windows...
Support is dropped. You have to uninstall the package before upgrading to 7.2. Funny thing is I don't recall seeing the announcement with 7.2 that it was no longer going to be supported, only saw it when attempting to upgrade.Did they drop support for this in 7.2, or is it just not released for this version yet?
I do not disagree with you at all on the MAC side, but Itunes remains supported in the Windows world.Itunes is replaced by 3 different apps, and no longer shipped with Macbooks since 2019.
It is a dead end anyway, we have to get used to it.
But the Mac's replacement Music app (programme / program) still support 'iTunes sharing', it lists them as 'Home Sharing' (Apple) and 'Public Sharing' (non-Apple). Here's from my Mac's Music app and the top of the list that then shows my DSM 7.1 NAS that has iTunes Server...Itunes is replaced by 3 different apps, and no longer shipped with Macbooks since 2019.
