Hello,
A few days ago when I updated to DSM 7.0 all my video cover photos simply disappeared. When I go to Video Station settings, and click search from video info plugin, I get "no matches found." I ran the API connection test and the connection was successful but on the Video Info Plugin page the connection failed.
Otherwise no problems showing the videos. However, I'd like to get the cover photos back. It just looks better.. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the covers back? 'preciate it. And thanks in advance.

Going from the screenshot: you have to create a TMDB account and sign up for an API key. This instructions are available from within the Video Info Plugin settings, click Edit and it's in there with links.

Also covered here, and I just tried with the API key that Synology originally left visible in their guide still works.

Once you have your metadata how you like it then you can select each library, via the settings, and export .vsmeta files. These will then be used by VS should you ever have to rebuild the database.

I'm having the same issue. I just bought a DS920+, set it up, and immediately upgraded it to DSM 7. The Video Info Plugin does not work. I've tried my own API key and the public one from the link above. The connection test is successful when testing from the "Edit video info plugin" screen, but fails when testing from the "Settings" screen (see attached images).

Is there any other way I can obtain metadata for my movie collection or is Plex the only option now?

Have just applied my TMDB API key to VS on a DSM 7 NAS. I see the test connection works both in the plugin pop-up window and the main plugins settings page. Not sure why the test would work in one window and not the other.

Plex works well for me, and is my main video playback system now.

Hello

im having same issue. vs will link to tmdb the edit screen but not in the settings screen
I spent a lot of time getting my library of 600 movies set up.
we I started I had no issues as I added movies it found the meta data with no issues.
for the ones it got wrong or missed I looked up manually
then one day it stoped workin. So it decided it needed to be reindexed and I lost 90 % of my metadata
do I need to star over.? How do I get it to connect to the tmdb.? I’m asuming if i fix that the manual look up will start working.
thanks Fred

@fred do you have the latest version of Video Station? 3.0.2-2072
Before this version, I also had the "Connection failed" issue, but the indexing was working anyway.

When you manually associate the metadata or when you modify a metadata, it will create a .vsmeta file.
This file contain a copy of the metadata.
If you have these files, you should not lost data by reindex, because if exist, it should read them.

I know for the ones I changed it saved a vsneta file.
and it was all working great. If I click on a movie and select update video info it comes back with error message to check the api. Should I apply for new api from tmdb?
thanks fred

i fixed my issue
ok turn out i did not have a port issue. my system was working but after the update it stoped conecting to tmdb turns out some setting changed on the nas drive this is from the synology tech

The Movie Database API can now connect _after IPv6 was disabled in Control Panel > Network > Network Interface > Edit._ IPv6 is generally recommended to be disabled, since it can sometimes cause application problems such as this.
