If using DS FILE or DS CAM, I’m using synology to play videos. I may have edited those videos on Premiere Pro SC6, but accessed via DS FILE. YES, PPRO CS6 is old, but does the work. DS CAM is strictly (now: Thanks 7.2.2!) H264, from security cameras. I assume DS FILE is also throttled. My exports for quality (and other reasons) are H264.
Now, If this file is just being imported: to a multi drive Raid0 “on it’s way to edit”, I’m not playing the video, it’s just going to edit, as a file transfer, and on the edit system there are all manner of codecs for use there—once it’s there.
I have never (Ever) seen a company who claims to do be able to do video, intentionally degrade it’s product by downgrading it’s codec list—Except Synology
