This AM I woke up to a beeping Nas with drives 1 and 2 not lit, only 3 and four. Went to Synology and the first guy told me to shutdown, pull all drives, turn it on and log in. Did that and he elevated my call to higher up and put in a ticket. haven't heard back!

I logged in and after figuring how to turn off the dang beep I checked the logs and it said, "the storage pool crashed," and "volume or ssd cache is abnormal." Well I shut it down and put the drives back in and it gave me the option to rebuild and now all my files are there and working. However if I shut down I have to go through the same stuff.

Am gathering one or more drives are failing. I ran the extended test on 3 and 4, Which took 2 days. and a just ran short tests on all drives. although I don't understand what I'm looking at in the smart results. Am feeling one or two of the drives are failing but no idea which? 1 and 2 are 4tb iron wolfs and 3 and 4 are 16tb iron wolfs. And ideas?? TIA

BTW: The NAS and drives are new!

The system warns you that there is an issue with the disk(s). Have a look in the storage manager which disk(s) cause the issue and repair or replace. It is all nicely documented on the synology knowledgebase.

I just found this thread from way back in June. My problem was not a bad drive but a bad backplane, "The board the drives plug into." Amazon replaced it.
