Though I haven't ever enabled a VPN on router.... When I got my new iPhone, 6 months ago, Verizon pointed out that - with my plan - I received their VPN, Verizon Protect and Verizon Call Filter, for free... and they noted I wasn't using it...

So we enabled Verizon Protect (has 2 different levels: Safe Browsing & Secure VPN).... as well as Verizon Call Filter... on both iPhones here.. (14+ and 15).. (iPhones set for Static IP on our 2600 WIFI)

About 6 months has gone by: Verizon Call Filter on 2 different iPhones: Locally or remote: has been simply fantastic! No errors, auto-magic-ly blocks unwanted calls! reports to Fitbit Versa 3 & 4 watches. We both - Couldn't be happier

So after about 6 months, and a couple of trips.. one World-Wide, I can report that for the most part -- Either Verizon Protect setting is good, though occasionally Secure VPN was slower and Apps that indicated my location occasionally reported me to be elsewhere - compared to where I really was..... at the time... (Did not see this with Safe Browsing option, just Secure VPN).
But it works fine locally or Remotely on other WIFI systems: with "WIFI Calling" turned on - on the phone.. Though configured to report to Fitbit Versa 3 and 4 watches, neither watch or Verizon Protect APP on 2 different iPhones has yet to prompt anything unusual..... Both VPN settings Also worked fine overseas on LTE or 5G phone data, but I'd expect that..

(We did have one issue overseas issue: using Oceania Shipboard WIFI through Starlink... It didn't like Verizon Protect at all.... Had to disable it while onboard ship..... But used Verizon Protect Safe Browsing or Secure VPN when off-board ship... That was only absolute 'broke' we ever encountered...). Starlink is a recent addition to Oceania: Shipboard IT person reported they had issues with other VPN's - too! Once connected to Oceania/Starlink: No issues getting to NAS, Router, Synology APPS, or WIFI Calling...

So: After 6 months: I see no issues locally between the Verizon VPN and Synology NAS or Routers.... Or Synology APPS.... (DS FILE, DS CAM, DS ROUTER, DS FINDER, OR WIFI CALLING all are fine with Verizon Protect VPN !)
All also worked flawlessly overseas off-board.... Only with Oceania WIFI/Starlink did issue occur needing Verizon VPN be disabled..

This also is a positive post for Synology QC.... Access to 'stuff' at home via QC has never been easier or more efficient.... (& Seemed a bit faster than last year, also)!

2 points, Synology!

(and all this occurred Before I swapped out the (now proven): slower - GOALAKE POE Switch - used for Security Cameras.).

Looking forward to testing QC, DS CAM, overseas again - now that POE infrastructure on LAN is optimum and I am seeing an improvement - locally!
