Had to reboot the DS918+ yesterday after triggering the installation of DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3

My nasses have daily auto power off and on as nobody uses them at night.
After completion of daily backup, they power down.

If it helps. I always check the uptime (if available) on any device before I reboot it. I need help too

Amazing! That takes us back to December, 2018 - over 7 1/2 years ago. For an unfair comparison... the NAS has outlasted typical lifespans of over 60 common incandescent light bulbs from that era.

What is the electrical infrastructure behind the redundant power supplies (e.g. UPS, redundant power grids, luck, etc.)?

And how did you protect against external threats with no security-related updates since DSM 5.1? Or is there not a need for security updates in your NAS's environment?

We are a small ISP and this NAS has a LUN iSCSI that serve on a private network a little VMware cluster with some crucial VM running on that (eg. customers Radius). So nobody of my IT predecessors has even courage to reboot it...

Deployed into our DC with huge UPS & diesel electric generator auto running in case of power grid cut off (anyway happened just once in the period, for electricity smart meter change).

Now we migrate on Proxmox cluster with ceph datastore, so this ancient runner will be relegated to not less important role of PBS snapshots store!
