DS audio Stops playing music after a few minutes...

I've just wanted to use DS Audio on my Pixel 8a today, to listen to some my old playlists ...

and...it stops playing randomly after 2-5 minutes... (player shows "play" symbol, but no sound), I have to manually do prev/next or seek in a track.

definitely not a network problem, happens on my LAN and outside (my phone has ~50Mbps connection), and my NAS ~500Mbps... (i guess thru Synology servers a bit slower, as I didn't open any ports)

Anyone experienced such problem ?

Are you using QuickConnect to access the NAS from DS audio? Can you try using the LAN IP of the NAS, or other direct app to server method. You will have to add the port number to the server name (if I remember right for this app).

Another thing to look at would be the audio file format, sample and bit rates, and its size. Does this happen to downloaded files, or only when they are being downloaded while streaming? Is any transcoding (format conversion) happening on the phone?

Do you get the same happening when using the Audio Station web interface? From desktop or mobile devices.

Update:

I just tried DS audio from mu iPhone 16 to DS1520+. This on a direct LAN connection (no QC or loopback). I'm playing FLAC 96 kHz/ 24 bit files and have not had it stopping. But I did hear some stuttering after a while.

I've then played the same files using Plex and Plexamp, again direct connections on the LAN. So far there has been no playback issues. The file is being played direct, no conversion.

I've tried with different MP3s I have (all of them 128kbps) in LAN and WireGuard on my Pixel 8a (Disk Station configured by IP only). In both situations it behaves the same, it plays first track, and doesn't play second, however progress bar is moving, just no sound. When I touch it (seek in that track) it starts to play. I don't tnink there is any transcoding. It happens with Downloaded songs - I've entered into "Downloaded songs" section and tried to play from there as well.
web player on desktop works without problems. web player on mobile works too.

OK, so 128 kbps MP3 is pretty well the baseline for 'anything can play this'. That the desktop and mobile browsers can play the streamed files, via Audio Station, would point the finger to the DS audio app's playback. Have you tried adjusting the conversion settings? I think they are more for streaming as opposed to playing downloaded files, but I cannot think of anything else.

Raise a ticket with Synology Support?

Wondering if any solution was found, or if anyone else is having this problem. My wife and I have a Pixel 8a too, and a Pixel 9 Pro, and both exhibit this problem when playing music via the Android DS Audio app. It plays a song but when it switches to the next track it plays silently - no audio is heard until you jog it to another track and then it starts playing again, but will do the same thing upon reaching the end of the current track. Probably should file a ticket with Synology, but seems to me they aren't really supporting anything on the entertainment side of things anymore...just letting it all wither and die.
