For DIY enthusiasts and tinkerers, here's how to connect the UART for different NAS devices.
The UART interface is a 6-pin header (right-angled or straight) with a 2.0 mm pitch. Only 3 pins are used.
Pin 2 is always GND (ground), pin 4 is TX, and pin 6 is RX. Note that PCB silk-screen markings are for reference only, as they can change between hardware revisions.
To avoid damaging either the NAS or your USB-to-UART adapter, always test with a multimeter first:
GND (Pin 2): Should read 0V (continuity to chassis ground).
TX / RX (Pins 4 & 6): Should read 3.3V.

Let's save the planet — recycle our old devices instead of throwing them away!
